New Dublin is still A Magical Place!

The Shamrock Club of New Dublin is happy to announce we WILL be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day 2021 with a few modifications due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Unfortunately we are unable to hold our Grand Parade, Irish Fest or Ceili this year.

We WILL be:

Painting Shamrocks

Having Leprechaun Day and change the name of our town

Promoting Houligan Day for the restaurants and pubs and other businesses around New Dublin

Celebrating our dignitaries that were named last year in a special way. with our Irish Entertainment and Dignitary Appreciation Night?on March 19 at 7:00 pm at?Crystal Falls?in Niagara?Hall. Talented artists from the New Dublin area present a moving evening of Irish entertainment on stage that features songs, dances, and the humor of Ireland. We will be introducing and recognizing our 2020-21 Irish Man & Irish Rose, Bob & Terri Murphy and Grand Marshall, Dorothy Neilson and the Irish Lad, Jake Flocker? & Lassie, Jasmine Villalobos. We will also recognize our recent Shamrock Club Scholarship recipients. It’s great family entertainment. Free admission, donations appreciated.?**Seating will be arranged to allow for social distancing and masks will be required per State and Local mandates.**

We are still working out the logistics of Irish Caroling but it will be on March 17th if we can work it out safely following the current pandemic restrictions.

We wish to thank everyone in our community for their support in the past and present and we are hoping that 2022 we can be back to our usual week-long celebration.

2020 Parade and Irish Fest Cancelled

It is with great sadness the Shamrock Club of New Dublin has decided to cancel our Parade and Irish Fest for 2020 due to the COVID-19 concerns.

The health and safety of our citizens and patrons are our main concern and we will be back in 2021 as grand as ever.

We will carry over our Dignitaries from 2020; Irish Man & Rose Bob & Terri Murphy, Parade Marshal Dorothy Neilson, and the Irish Lad & Lass so they can receive the recognition they deserve.

Thank you all for your support in the past and we look forward to seeing all your smiling faces the week of March 15-20th, 2021.? Our schedule has been updated with next year’s dates so please refer to that and plan on joining in on the fun.

New Dublin Parade and Irish Fest Rescheduled

We are pleased to announce the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Fest has been rescheduled for September 19, 2020 to coincide with Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day.

Irish Fest starts at 11am in the tent in Festival Foods parking lot in downtown New London with 3 bands playing until 6pm.

The Grand Parade steps off at 1pm as usual with bands, floats and community business and service groups.

We hope many of you who have supported and celebrated with us in the past can join us for this event.

Major events in New Dublin Cancelled

The City of New London and the Shamrock Club of New Dublin have found it necessary to cancel our events for next week that will have 250 people or more in attendance.? Please refer to the Cancellation Press Release?for further information.

The Leprechauns will still go out on Monday and change the signs but will not be doing their usual visits to the nursing homes and schools.? Hooligan Day is St. Patrick’s Day so will still be celebrated in New Dublin for those who want to celebrate.

Thank you all for your support of New Dublin and our festivities in the past and it will be business as usual next year. We want everyone to stay healthy in our community and throughout the state and beyond.

Our Irish Man & Irish Rose this year are Bob & Terri Murphy.? Bob has a strong Irish heritage many having settled in the Lebanon area like so many other Irish families.? Terri carried the Shamrock Club banner in our first Parade in 1984 and drove the Irish Man & Irish Rose in the Parade for 15 years in their convertible.? They were also our Parade judges in 2012.

Our Grand Marshall for the Parade this year is Dorothy Neilson.? She has been a business person in New London since 1960 and has supported the Shamrock Club since we started.? Her business, TV Pliance, is always nicely decorated for the festivities every year.

We are so happy these special people have agreed to be our Dignitaries this year and are looking forward to another great year!

2019 Dignitaries announced

The Shamrock Club of New Dublin is proud to announce our Irish Man & Rose and Parade Marshall for 2019.

We have chose as Irish Man, John Paters and as Irish Rose, Kathleen (Kay) Mielke.? They have performed for all of our Irish Entertainment nights through the years and do a wonderful job.? They have fully supported our organization and we are so happy they have accepted.

Our Grand Marshall this year is no stranger to our Parade.? Better known as “The Wacky Wheeler” Rob Summerbell has decided to retire from “Wheeling” due to health reasons and we are very proud to have him watching the Parade from the dignitary stand as our honored Marshall this year.? We are looking forward to another great year, our 35th, and hope to see lots of smiling faces at our events again as we always have.

Parade Trophies Announced

The following groups were presented with the 2018 Grand Parade Trophies:

Grand Marshal Award (Best in Show) – New London Mom Prom – “Thought they put a lot of time into making the archway and decorating it. They deserve it.”

Best Musical Award – Tripoli Scottish Highlanders – “Awesome music! Thank you for coming!”

Best Non-Commercial Award – New Dublin Police, Fire, and Emergency – “Thank you for everything you do every year!”

Best Commercial Award – Paul’s Plumbing – “Nice decorations! Thank you!”

Mike Coyle Memorial Award – Will be announced after our April 2nd Shamrock Club Membership Meeting.

Thank you to all who participated in and watched the Parade this year.? Next year the Parade will be on March 23rd.

“Celtic Afternoon” presented by Green Apple Folk Society

On Saturday, March 10 @ Mosquito Hill Nature Centre, Green Apple Folk Music will present “A Celtic Afternoon” featuring a variety of Celtic music performed by Mike O’Connell & “Flip of the Coin”, Paul Srubas, Terry Dawson, Pat Schwenke, Jim Anger, Steve Peterson with Dan & Dean, & Melissa Mulroy.

This is a family friendly venue suitable for all ages.? $2 for Green Apple members, $5 for not yet members. Under 12 free.? Music begins promptly @ 2:00 p.m. with intermission treats.? A fine way to celebrate the music of the Olde Sod?in preparation for St. Pat’s week here in?New Dublin.? We hope to see ya there!

2018 Dignitaries Announced

The Shamrock Club of New Dublin is proud to announce our dignitaries for 2018.

This year our Irish Man is Randy Genske and Irish Rose is Arlene Birkholz.? Randy has been an active member for many years and has been a great help on Parade day setting up the Dignitary and Announcer’s Stands.? Arlene is a former owner of The Pine Tree and has always supported the Shamrock Club by advertising on and using our placemats, advertising on our poster and selling buttons.? We are thrilled that they have both accepted and I know they will have lots of fun this year and will represent us well.

Our Parade Marshalls this year are Dan and Lovana Rice.? They own Rice’s Greenhouse and have also been great supporters of our organization through the years.? We are very excited that they agreed to let us honor them as dignitaries this year and I know they will have fun with our events throughout the week and watching the Parade.

Our Parade Judges this year are Todd & Lori Barrington.? They have also been active in the past by helping to take care of our Parade Dignitaries and are a great addition to our list and will be very fair and impartial judges.

Congratulations to all of our very deserving Dignitaries this year and if you see them out and about in the community please congratulate them as well.
